Heights of boredom…
Restoration!

Lead India… Disappointing

The ads and hoardings for Lead India were very impressive but i could never figure out what it was about. Then when they started playing the promos I realized it was a TV show. So I eagerly awaited to watch it.
Lead India is a reality show, where 8 contestants will compete against each other and they will be judged by Javed Aktar, Kiran Bedi and Vikas Singh. The show will go on for 10 episodes and the winner will receive 50Lks to help complete his/her dream project.
As much as it was a brilliant concept I was very disappointed because the show was hosted in hindi. The idea behind the show is to find the one who has the unique talent and potential to make a huge difference to India. India is a land of multiple languages then why does the show have to be in hindi. Does this not deprive people who do not know hindi from participating in this show and also the ones who wish to watch it.
The show does not say “Lead Mumbai” it says “Lead India” then does it not have to be in a language that is universally spoken across the nation?
Zindagi Rocks!
I happen to stay up late to complete some work, after a while felt like taking a break so I switched on the tv and this movie “Zindagi Rocks” was playing. I guess i would have missed first half an hour of the movie, If it was any other time I might have switched to another channel but it was very late in the night and I was kinda bored so I decided to watch it and ended up liking it.
The screen play was totally predictable but somehow liked the concept. The lengths people go to keep the ones they love happy. The movie was about a mother who ends up taking her life to donate her heart to save her dying son, the son’s doctor who happen to be in love with the mother gives up his personal life to take care of her son even though the love of his live will never be around. This might have looked very melodramatic but we never get to see something even close to it in our real life. So a question popped in my head. Is this what we call unconditional love?
Does unconditional love exist? when you love someone do you expect them to love you back or will you just be happy loving them the way you do? Will you be able to watch the one you love in love with someone else? just be happy for the person even though they might never be a part of your life?
I heard from a friend about a newly wed, where the gal was diagnosed with cancer. I was amazed to hear about the way the guy took care of her. She lost all her beauty during her chemotherapy, cancer treatment feels like hell. The patient practically suffer, have lot of mood swings and bad temper which they tend to take it out on the ones around them. Because of chemotherapy there were chances they might not have a kid, but in spite of all this her husband helped her get through this phase and stood by her no matter what.
Is something like this supposed to make us believe in love? or when you hear that someone took care of another who slipped into indefinite coma or to be with someone who lost their memory and does not recognize the one they love. I don’t know.
Does “unconditional love” exist? or has love just become an excuse to be with someone…
Final Destination!
I don’t know if its strange or freaky, sometimes what we unknowingly say do end up coming true! I have seen it happen. People say some random things and they might have not even mean, but sometimes in a very strange way it does come true.
I was actually thinking about this and flipping channels and stopped at HBO, guess what they were playing; Final Destination, kinda spooky
There are things in life we can never control. Whatever is destined to happen will happen!
Wonders of the world!!!
During my trip I got to see four wonders of the world and now I know why they call them wonders of the world. All the four wonders of the world I saw had the “wow” factor. Each one of them was breath taking.
Eiffel Tower – I kinda have issues so the lift ride up to the third flow was not very pleasant. but once you reach on top my eyes popped out. The view was brilliant you could almost see the whole of Paris. It looks more beautiful in the evening with lights on. I think they use close to 36 million bulbs to light up Eiffel, funny these are the same people who talk about global warming.
Louvre museum – I know louvre is not one of the wonders of the world but according to me it is. I had the opportunity to look at the work of such big legends. Some people are really gifted in life to create such wonders. Finally got to see the great work of Leonardo’s Monolisa .
Leaning tower of Pisa – I didn’t know we had to climb the Pisa tower. I found it a bit difficult to climb up because its spiral stairs so it kinda feels dizzy after a while. But once you reach on top you actually feel you standing on a leaning building.
Colosseum – Of all the wonders I liked Colosseum the best. When I saw it my mouth dropped open. It was huge and breath taking. It was so cleverly built keeping all aspects in mind, even to protect the royal family from the sun. They actually build such a big arena to watch man fight each other and animals and people came to watch it for entertainment.
The entire trip was worthwhile just to look at these wonders of the world. But the ironic thing is I got to see close to four wonders of the world but I still haven’t seen Taj Mahal
My Europe trip
I have always wanted to go on an euro trip and finally got to do it this month. It was a short trip but a brilliant one. If I start writing about it i could go on and on….
We got to visit close to 6 different places. I liked Rome the best. Its such a beautiful place. Even though it looks like a city of ruins its amazing to be see the restoration work they have done to preserve it. Every building, every cathedral, every sculptor and every single painting was breath taking. Its such a romantic city so if you planning to visit Rome go with the one you love. Nothing like walking the roads of Rome holding hands with someone you love.
No words to describe how wonderful Venice is. There is water everywhere. We had to take water bus to go from one island to another. Actually they use water bus to commute from one place to another, its one of the public transports. There is an option to take a boat ride from one corner of the city to another, it an one hour ride. We took the boat ride in the evening, I stood out to watch the sunset. It was unbelievably cold but the view was so beautiful it was worth it. All the souvenir shops in Venice had these masks, very pretty ones. I got myself a stunning black mask with black feathers
Towards the end of our trip the temperature went below 0 degree. I was hoping it would snow because I had never seen snow. Actually when we climbed Mt. Vesuvius, there was ice near the crater. Even though it got very cold in Brussels it didn’t snow. I was quite disappointed.
I had an awesome trip but it felt very difficult to part with my friends in the airport. So I had a sad flight from Brussels to Vienna, but when I landed in Vienna I had a smile on my face. Guess what it was snowing in Vienna. Yippee… My prayers were finally answered. The whole city was covered in snow, unbelievably beautiful . It looked like heaven on earth, felt like a dream. My trip felt complete.
Everyone must go to Europe on a vacation
Being nice…
I hate being nice to people when I don’t have to. Specially when they show unnecessary attitude feel like throwing it right back at them . But most of the times considering the situation need to sugarcoat the response. Try to smile, write suttle mails and other things just to get the point across, when you feel like screaming at the top of your voice.
What to do losing our cool is not a luxury, specially at work place even if we want to. Grrrr…..
when we reached Paris we noticed that all maps, help lines, announcements, everything was in french. And once we went around the city we realized that people in France actually don’t use much of English. We were quite surprised, rather shocked, Paris is a place which is visited by people from all around the world and english is a language which is widely spoken across the world not french. So I think they should have brochures and announcements to help tourist find their way around the city and tourist spots.
During our way back we were discussing about this issue. Two of my other friends who were traveling with me had an argument regarding this. One said its up to the France government and people to decide what language they wish to use but my other friend’s point of contention was if you are promoting and entertaining so many tourist its not fair to use just french, they need to use additional languages too.
This argument slowly lead to tourism in India. My friend said we also promote tourism and what will happen if we start printing everything in hindi. So my other friend said yeah its up to the government to choose because hindi is our national language which my other friend refused to agree. So once we got back home she looked it up in the internet and proved him wrong. Even i was kinda under the impression that hindi was our national language but “NO” it is not.
I’m glad that I don’t have to feel guilty for not knowing hindi because its just our official language not our “National Language”. But since i recently moved to mumbai i will definitely try to learn the language out of my own will and not because i’m supposed to know it.

Article 346 of the Indian Constitution recognises Hindi in Devanāgarī script as the official language of central government India. The Constitution also allows for the continuation of use of the English language for official purposes. Article 345 provides constitutional recognition to “Official languages” of the union to include any language adopted by a state legislature as the official language of that state. In effect, there are “Official Languages at the state and center level but no one “national language”. Until the Twenty-First Amendment of the Constitution in 1967, the country recognised 14 official regional languages.
