Long ago I saw this movie called “Born Free”. An awesome movie, its about an English couple who try to reintroduce an orphan lion cub back into the wild. The kinda effort they put into making the whole process work, how difficult it is for the lioness to defend herself in the wild when she was brought up as a pet and all the emotional trauma the couple go through letting her go…
Even though the movie was based on a real story end of the day its still a movie. But thanks to a friend I recently got the opportunity to watch a documentary on Discovery channel about a similar story. It was about two tiger cubs in captive and they were brought up by a zoologist. After the cubs grew they decide to let them in to the wild. They spend close to 25 to 30 months to teach them how to hunt and survive in the wild.
It was amazing to see the kinda bond the trainer and the tigers share. Such magnificent animals playing with the guy like how we play with our dogs. But no matter how much we try to keep them with us we know they belong in the wild.
Only when we have a sense of belonging, we feel at home.
